This is Me
So, you've found my website and maybe you don't know me in real life. Maybe you do. Here's a quick run down on who I am and what I'm doing with my life. I'm seventeen and live on the English side of the Welsh borders. I'm at college studying Law, English, Sociology and German, and I'm a member of the local hockey club.

Until quite recently I sang in a choir and played violin in several orchestras, but I moved house and had to leave all that behind. I have a brother who's a few years younger than me; he lives with our dad and I live with our mum, and we usually spend holidays together.
I spend most of my free time reading, playing the piano, watching our terrier fetch a ball from all over the field, watching programmes like Dr Who and Torchwood, and travelling on trains. My main love is words: spoken words, written words, complicated words manipulated to cover every eventuality (for example, Parliamentary bills) and the power of words. I juggle my own words for essays and short stories, and for me there's nothing more relaxing than sinking into someone else's words and losing myself. I like films that make you think about what's being said, and books that create an entire world out of letters on a page. I'm definitely a word girl.
Things that interest me are human psychology, conflict resolution, Buddhism, religion and faith in general, relationships and deviance, and humour. Basically I like to know what makes people tick, and what happens when it goes wrong. That's why I'm taking Law and Sociology, which both cross over into lots of those fields. I'm hoping to become a solicitor or maybe work in an alternative school like Summerhill or Sands.
Less heavily, I love Dolly Parton, Joni Mitchell and Julia Roberts. They're three women who fascinate me and I'd love to meet. Other music I like includes folk (British and American), dance music of any kind, Klezmer, and music from the Romantic era like Tchaicovsky and Dvorak. I love the sound of the Muslim call to prayer, and birdsong in the morning. I like watching it snow, and running in the rain, and lying on the grass on a hot sunny day. I hate sand, and I'm not very keen on the sea, so the beach is not for me. I can roll my tongue, and wiggle my ears, which have both proved varyingly useful over the years.
That's me in a nutshell, although you'll certainly discover more about me if you look around the site. I'd love to hear from you if we share any interests, or if you have any comments about the site, or just if you want to say hello. You can use the "Email Me" link to the left to drop me a line.
