This is Me
So, you've found my website and maybe you don't know me in real life. Maybe you do. Here's a quick run down on who I am and what I'm doing with my life. I'm eighteen and live on the English side of the Welsh borders. I've just finished college and I'm off to university to study Law in a few weeks. I share the house with my mum, her soon-to-be husband, three cats and a dog, and there are assorted fowl in the garden too. Away from home I also have a dad and a brother, and they have a dog who is the size of a pony and thinks he's a cat. The cat up there in the left-hand corner? She's dead now, but she was a little love of a muppet, always getting her nose stuck in things and often to be found dripping with green slime, having inadvertently walked into the pond again. Her brother went unfathomably missing a couple of years ago; I like to think he's living it up somewhere new and purring like a tractor still.
In the past year I've been pretty busy, with college and also a part-time job in a supermarket. I'm hoping that next year will be equally busy, but this time with university and sport. I'll be taking up dance lessons again, maybe joining a choir or two, all the things I haven't had time for recently. I'm also in the middle of learning shorthand, which isn't going as well as I would have liked, and getting to grips with knitting (equally not as successful as hoped).
Things that interest me are human psychology, conflict resolution, religion and faith in general, relationships and deviance, and humour. Basically I like to know what makes people tick, and what happens when it goes wrong. That's why I'm taking Law, but it's also why I like to travel on trains and watch all of human life on its way to somewhere else. I also love listening to people talking about things they really care about, especially when I don't understand a word of it (pretty much any kind of maths or science).
Less heavily, I love Dolly Parton, Joni Mitchell and Julia Roberts. They're three women who fascinate me and I'd love to meet. Other music I like includes folk (British and American), dance music of any kind, Klezmer, and music from the Romantic era like Tchaicovsky and Dvorak. My favourite actresses include the afore-mentioned Julia, Emma Thompson, Julie Walters and Meryl Streep.
I love the sound of the Muslim call to prayer, and birdsong in the morning. I like watching it snow, and running in the rain, and lying on the grass on a hot sunny day. I hate sand, and I'm not very keen on the sea, so the beach is not for me. I can roll my tongue, bend my elbows both ways, and wiggle my ears, which have all proved varyingly useful over the years. A recent visit to America has left me with an interest in baseball and a desire to visit again, although I don't think I'd sacrifice a free health-care system even for better weather and 30oz sodas.
